Malaysia International Toys Fair day 2 and summary

About 24 hours later from the event here is the summary of the Malaysia International Toys Fair aka MITF.

My MITF 2010 stash

With exception of MP Grimlock at the background, others TF toys and Hi-Metal VF-1J, those are freebees as well as things bought from MITF.

The most treasured item for the event is of course the Exhibitor’s tag Thanks to TransMY.

This post will be highlighting the some of those figures in closer view. Of course from my point of view

Heroes, villians and in betweens...

G1 toys, Heroes and villians side by side.

In the 1980s the Transformers G1 toys is definitely the craze of the childrens. Well at least as far as I can remember. If we can turn back time and show to your peers the G1 Transformers toys you have, you will becomes the school instant celebrity. Everyone is your friend LOL

Takara G1 Optimus Prime

Everyone needs a hero. Optimus Prime or Convoy is basically plays the role of model. Natural leader, charismatic, strong, wise, brave and of course personification of all good. Would dare to bet that those watches Transformers idolizes Optimus Prime/Convoy.

To think of the relation, Transformers, as well as Gundam cartoons or movie is just another form of product placement as well as advertisement. For Transformers toys are actually children of a toy time known as Diaclone. Well not going details into it, may check out with others TransMYians or any dedicated Transformers community.

G1 Devastator

Devastator from my most fondness childhood memory is the first Transformers in cartoon that actually all the vehicle is individual robots and are able to combine their soul and body to becomes devastator. Devastator is really a bad ass in those early Transformers cartoon. Just like in all story there needs to be a villain, and of course Devastator fits well as the biggest muscles of the bad guys.

Then come the dinobots, the anti-thesis of Devastator. Unfortunately they does not combine, which is a waste.

As far as I know, the gimmick of Transformers were its transformation mechanism… so called robot in disguise. It was impressive at those old time. Of course other than the elaborated commercial, it too provide entertainment worth as well as a moral story.

Despite playing bad guys, they are important to create tension and perhaps provides the motivation and plot to the story. All hail Megatron !!!

Transformable MP Ultra Magnus

The base body is using Takara Master Piece Ultra Magnus, styrene sheet and some joint are added to make the Ultra Magnus armour to ensure ecstatics of cartoon accurate Ultra Magnus.

Customized MP Six Shot is definitely a sight to behold, heavily modified joint added with articulation. As well as details such as wheels, tank caterpillar threads were added.

According to Wan, the MP BumbleBee, is actually created using a customized method known as shelling. The Volkswagen Beetle is actually a die-cast car, which were carefully separated and added in robot parts into the model.

Of course these are the highlights of the customized TF figures. In which will take a longer time to complete. In a way it is one of its kind in the world.

Seeing how much details on the customs figures, we can know that each of those customed job whether scratch built or impressive paint job requires labour of love. Long live the customizers for personalizing and adding character to their toys making it truly one of its kind in the world.

Malaysia International Toys Fair 2010 day 1

Have went early to help out the TransMY crew to setup the booth in the Malaysia International Toy Fair 2010. Not to forget it has been a long time since I have updated this blog.

To my regular visitor, sorry for the lack of update. Hopefully, next month onwards I am able to make updates more regularly.

For the Toys, I have went to MidValley Mall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as early as 9am GMT +8. Security were pretty tight for non-exhibitors need to wait until the official opening time.

MITF Main Podium

We were lucky via Wan De Real we are able to get a nice place in the Exhibition. Yes the TransMY booth show casing Transformers is situated directly opposite of the MITF main podium.

Most of the toys were from different type of genre. We have designer toys as well as local toys shop join the array.

Though designer toys are not something new, it was introduce to me by some of my toys collecting comrades. But did not pay attention to it until my sister has introduce me to the toys of this genre. For this genre, I have liberated her coverage to be used in this blog.

What intrigues me, is the toys comes in plain white or other base color, then it can be used as a base for artist, professionals as well as hobbyist to engage in innovating the plain toy into a work of art.

Transformers Convention Day 3 wrap up

The final day of the Transformers Convention 2009 at Queensbay Mall Penang, Malaysia. There is still alot of activities and yes the Mikeala Banes look alike winner will be determined. Most importantly to capture a slice of the event on the people that has made this Transformers Convention a meaningful one.

A Transformers convention is never complete without the visitors. Toys will be just a piece of expensive plastics if there is no one to adore its scuplt and details.

In the Galaxy Force series of Transformers, Unicron were given an arch rival in a form of Primus which is an oversize robot, indeed size does really matter.There is some improvement made to the diorama of the pyramid battle scene to reflect free for all royal rumble.

Of course there is also a moment of some Autobot slacking off take the battle at a lighter side.

Other than the Mikeala look alike contest; Are you hot enough ? There is others events to look up to. Informal event that started on day 2; Bumblebee Pimping. People of different ages likes BumbleBee at least in Penang, Malaysia. Not sure about other region though but I like your feed backs

From the observation of the BumbleBee pimping visitors are really showing patience and orderly. Something which is rare these days in Penang, Malaysia.

This is a testimony and proof to support in my previous post that single guys who is a Transformers fan can pimp BumbleBee to attract girls. Just make sure that you have RM450++ to invest on the Ultimate BumbleBee, the result would be priceless. At least at the current trend of the time in this post.

There is of course some tense moment, as uninterested patron were dragged by their partners to listen to the gospel of Transformers. There are some crowd would ask if the item on display is on sales. In which we responded by ¨NO, it is just on display and not for sell…¨. There are also keen visitors and photographers.

The final event of the day is Auctions. The highlight of the day were undisclosed until the final moment. The cut outs and the pyramid diorama each for RM100 which is surprisingly cheap affordable.

Transformers Convention 2009 Queensbay mall Penang is over

Just got back did what need to be done. Taking a good rest after the Transformers Convention is over. Taken my stuff back from the exhibition area took some photo. And got out from Queensbay Mall. It has been a tiring but fulfilling weekends to mingle with crowds and general public as well as TransMYians.

My stuffs is packed up and ready to go back home.

We do glad to interact with all the visitors that has choose to spend their weekends to follow us with a short Transformers Escapade.

Armada Prime

Can´t help to relate that the Return of the Fallen transformers where Optimus Prime combines with JetFire is inspired by Transformers Armada. Oh yes, one can use his or her knowledge of Transformers to draw which series of Tranformers that had inspired Micheal Bay to make Optimus Prime and Jet fire combines to a more powerful form. Coincidentally, in Transformers Armada Jetfire forms the legs of Optimus Prime power up mode.

There is also another possible inspiration of the Optimus Prime and Jetfire combination. Answer lies in the Transformers Galaxy, Optimus Prime and Jetfire combines, in this series, Jetfire becomes Optimus Prime´s back pack and give additional firepower. Sound kinda more familiar with ROTF Optimus Prime and Jetfire combination.

Another alien looking Transformers in which were created prior to Michael Bay´s Transformers. It was the ever contravertial Beast Wars and Beast Machines. Where it sparks a war among the most ardent Transformers stance. Yeah before 2007 there is actually a civil war between fans due to organic looking bots. History always repeats itself

The most far right fans of G1 Transformers were screaming for heresy and blasphemy commited by the creators of Beast Wars and Beast Machines. Reasons are many and amusing, the most common reason is Robots are not supposed to be organic looking. I hope this post does not sparks another cyber heated debate and arguement

Other than that we have tried to get cute and closer to the visitors of Transformers Convention by sharing the most famous bot at the moment, BumbleBee.

In transformers G1, there is a human character Spike Witwicky. Current Transformers Movie 2007 and Revenge of the Fallen, the main human is Sam Witwicky. The parallel is both Witwicky are human friend to BumbleBee. On a side note to male readers, if your GF or wife watch Transformers Movie in 2007 and continue to watch with you Revenge of the Fallen, buy a cute BumbleBee for them. For single men, if your romantic interest watches ROTF, start the topic using BumbleBee

We encourage that visitors take advantage of bringing in camera for the Transformers Convention to take snapshots of their favorite robot. Some uses camera phone and there are alot using DSLRs. Most important the satistfaction of framing your favorite Transformers bot in your digital frame or album.

The first day of the Transformers Convention starts with a bitsy tweak on the displays.

My buddies in the TransMY have sweat it off by arranging the concourse in Queensbay Mall for the up coming convention this weekend from the 26th till 28th June 2009.

Masterpiece Prime and THS Prime showcase.

We have members from all around Malaysia contributing to make the event successful. Some of our members has created a Pyramid desert diorama on the face off between good and evil.

The details of the pyramid is improved by using actual sand and some detailing by adding desert vegetation.

Of cos a diorama is not complete without filling it with heroes and villian and everything in between.

The Hunt for Big Bot

Resisting the temptation to sleep longer on a cool rainy Saturday morning. Waking up as early as 7.30am GMT +8 on the 30th May 2009. On an empty stomach armed only with a camera, drove the car for 20 minutes under such harsh but nice-to-sleep weather to Gurney Plaza (Gurney drive, Penang, Malaysia) for a hunt.

The ultimate prey of the hunt, an alpha male of the group in red, blue and grey. A priced and ultimate prey for all the hunters, nick named Big Bot.

Upon reaching the destination, parked the car in a cost effective area (saving of RM3). Braved through a series of maze and labyrinth cargo lift and quiet hallways to reach Toys R US minutes before the launch. There is already 5 brave souls arrived waiting. And yes they are hunting the ultimate prey.

There is a catch, only one person are allow 1 Big Bot and you can only be able to purchase is you are a member of Toys R Us star card member.

I did not realize how frantic the shoppers are until I have got out of the premise. Realized that some bring their wife/GF to watch over their purchase while they continue to buy more.

Didn´t manage to talk to my friends, most of them went home after they got what they want. There are multiple shoppers that literally bag the Transformers toys and merchandise. Just went home after the random photo shooting. Exit using the main door for Gurney Plaza is officially open.

A good buy I would say. Sorry to disappoint Takara Tomy supporters but I unable to tell the differences of Hasbro and Takara Tomy leader class Optimus Prime toy. And I would not pay more for a mere sticker. On top of that the toys are all made in China.
