Transformers Convention preparation and teaser

My buddies in the TransMY have sweat it off by arranging the concourse in Queensbay Mall for the up coming convention this weekend from the 26th till 28th June 2009.

Masterpiece Prime and THS Prime showcase.

We have members from all around Malaysia contributing to make the event successful. Some of our members has created a Pyramid desert diorama on the face off between good and evil.

The details of the pyramid is improved by using actual sand and some detailing by adding desert vegetation.

Of cos a diorama is not complete without filling it with heroes and villian and everything in between.

TransMY are trying to capture the essense of the climatic battle of Autobots and Decepticons in the Revenge of the Fallen, 2009 Transformers Movie.

Transformers Henkei Grimlock C-03, Robot Mode [Part 3]

Grimlock is the dimwit with only brawn and raw power. In its robot form, Grimlock is more where it shines, that is if you are able to overlook its short stubby arms inherited from its stubby dino legs.

Henkei Grimlock were created with lots of articulation, but the the implementation in its hips it abit weak. During the transformation, the leg, pop out of the socket for 3 time. It does not feel like the joint will endure long play without loosing or becoming loose.

Grimlock robot mode is armed with a cannon and a whip. Which can be stowed at its back. The whip is actually its tail in dino mode and its articulation makes it abit wavy and more alive.

Both the cannon and whip can be plug into its hands. With the with and cannon it gives Grimlock a persona of a modern mechanized beast master.

Itś cannon looks like it is design with close combat in mind, it has a blade like extrusion like a bayonet at its lower part of the cannon. Perhaps it is use to make it close and personal with its adversary.

Grimlock looks good, or the weapon makes the stubby arms dissappears.

Henkei Grimlock does not show it self with details. The panel lines on its head, torso and legs are sharp. Its head follows very closely to its G1 cartoon counter part. Though the chest is modified or reimagined with a large Autobot insignia at the left side, covered with translucent red plastic but it is able to show the insignia.

The articulation of Grimlock robot mode is commendable at best it is due to its joints is abit loose and may loose tightness overtime. You need to be careful with its hips joints as it is easy to pop out.

Overall henkei Grimlock despite itś short coming of stubby arms and loose joints especially at its hips and waist. Its charms is its details. It will be a good addition into anyoneś collection as long as you can oversee it´s short coming.

Transformers Henkei Grimlock C-03, Dino Mode [Part 2]

Right out the package, Grimlock is in Dino mode, the mode resembles a raptor dinosaur than a T-Rex. The dino mode resembles more like a mechanize rather than a real dinosaur.

Unlike its cousin toyline from Hasbro; Transformers Classic, the Grimlock has metallic painted parts. The metallic parts is abit of contraversial, it may add a cool factor but the metallic part may fade after a long time or it may peel off after rough play.

In the dino mode, the left side exposes the chest of the robot mode, but it is still acceptable. On the upper part of the dino, mode it has a small tower like extrusion to place a cannon. Unfortunately, in dino mode, there is too many seams and gap shown. On top of that, the leg is stubby an short. With a long tail, it looks less proportional.

The articulated part of the dino is its, head which is limited to moving up and down, it is able to open and close itś jaw. Legs are stubby but they are articulated at the hips and foot. Knees are not articulated.

Grimlock perhaps one of the favorite Transformers characters. Strong like a bull T-Rex but a dimwit. In the Transformers Animated, the character stays loyal to its G1 Transformers.

The style of the new cartoon is abit deformed with some elaborate feature such as the added jaw. This toy follows the rendition of the new cartoon.

In the package, Grimlock stays in its alternate dino or T-Rex form.

Too bad, the dinobot leader lacks of accessories and gimmick in my opinion. After opening the package, just like other Hasbro toys Grimlock is securely tied with cables. In which it is an integrated fun before you can actually play with the toy. Grimlock comes with only a sword and a lousy manual. In which the transformation information is lacking of details (as usual), it gives brief tansformation of Grimlock from T-Rex to robot mode but no instruction to revert back to T-Rex.

Since this Grimlock is a rendition of the Cartoon Network Transformers. A deformed dinosaur, luckily they did not cokor it purple then makes it soft and cuddly. The main feature of the T-Rex mode, is Grimlock bites.

The gripes in dino mode is, the T-Rex small arms is not articulated. And secondly Grimlock robot does not like peekaboo, you can see its head exposed below the neck of the dino mode.

Overall if you can ignore the small arm and no-peekaboo issue it is a good mode

Transforming Grimlock is more challeging on first try. It us due to the transformation of T-Rex legs into Grimlock robot arm has some issue. By default the T-Rex knee just unable to slide in into the dino tights which is the upper arms for Grimlock.

You will need to have to remove the screw from the robot upper arm with proper tools. Before forcing the knee gently into the thigh, thus forming the arm.

Hasbro has did it by making Grimlock very close to its cartoon rendition.

unforutnately, Grimlock has limited articulation in it arms due to the large upper arms and broad chest. Legs has limited swivel to the front and back. Its head can turn left to right but unable to look up and down. It is able to twist its waist but not able to move itś chest.

Detailing for the Grimlock is quite impressive except its lower legs.

Last but not least Grimlockś molten lava like big sword. It has a trigger at its sword handle that will triggers the Flame pop out. It is activated once the sword is attached to the right hand and have the right wrist rotated.

In my opinion this is a solid toy that follow the cartoon network Transformers rendition of Grimlock which may looks like a monkey or ape due to its longer arms. However it is designed to be playable. Just a major fear is fading of Autobot insignia after long play. Just too bad that Hasbro did not make it perfect by covering the robot head in dino mode and provide articulation to T-Rex small arms else this toy will be perfect.
