D01 Henkei Megatron review.

Henkei Megatron robot mode overall view.

Megatron, is one of the early arch-villian type any kid born in the 1980s can relate to. Ruthless, megalomania but with a virtue honor. Of course, a story needs a villian and a hero. Megatron just answered the call.

Takara and Hasbro has reimagined the G1 Megatron and give it a futuristic looking short barreled revolver. At its gun mode it is just fit nicely how a compact modern pistol supposed to fit any adult´s hand. The Henkei version looks better than the Classics Megatron.

Like its arch rival Convoy, Henkei Megatron is pack in its robot mode.

Similar to its Henkei counterpart, the package back is decorated with the characters technical specs, description, features and transformation diagram.

The packaging show the toy is an advertisement or marketting tool as it introduce characters on the same toy line -_-¨ .

From the package, Henkei Megatron is rather big and it is taller than Henkei Convoy. Unfortunately, there is no accessories for this figure. Just a robot with its oversized canon on the right arm.

The inner package that stores Megatron at the back is a plain card board. Instructions, comic and a data card is placed into a plastic warp stick to the back.

On the articulation of Henkei Megatron, the figure does not have articulation at the waist, the torso is as stiff as a board. Transformation wise, Henkei Megatron has complex and ingeniously designed transformation.

Henkei Megatron robot mode give an appearence of those Arch type victorian age villian which dressed in black with long overcoats. It is due to the part of the Gun is transfomed unwittingly to Megatron´s back effectively making it a cloak.

The fist of the robot does not twist. It is fixed at a position. Too bad the scope is unremovable and it is an integral part of Megatron.

One good point of this Henkei Megatron is it comes with tight joints at the legs. Unfortunately, it would be hard to make it fix at an angle desired.

Like its other Henkei brethens, the head details is commendable and the robot eye give a glow effect. For Henkei Megatron however, the redness is not good enough.

Unlike its G1 toy, the Megatron does not suffer the trigger as a boner syndrome.

After it is tranform into gun mode, it can be hold as a pistol.

Megatron come with a semi usable scope to boot.

Overall, Henkei Megatron is a decent Henkei line toy. Reason I got him were due to discount/sales and it is Megatron.

Only get this if you want to simulate battle and fight between Convoy and Megatron.

C01 Henkei Convoy review

It is rather a delayed review for this figure. Photo were taken before the Queensbay Mall Transformers Convention with TransMYians during June. Nevertheless, personally I prefer this version rather than its Hasbro counter part. Ordered it from HLJ during a discount for this toys, was in luck for retail store in my place of residence is over priced.

If you do not know, in Japan and in most area of far east Asia Transformers purist will simply call Optimus Prime in the far east Asia as Convoy.

Autobot is known as Cybertrons and Decepticons is known as Destrons. A bit confusing but you will get the hang of it.

Unlike the Hasbro packing, Takara packing offer a more compact package with a DataCard of Convoy.

Hasbro Optimus Prime package is standard like all its Tansformers Classics/Universe Voyager Class toys which is way more bulkier and it is in truck mode. For TakaraTomy, Convoy is in robot mode.

The TakaraTomy Convoy comes in the package in Robot mode.

Henkei Convoy is undeniable, feel heavy for its class. With details and accessories to complement the defacto Cybertronian Commander.

The only down side of Convoy, it is not a perfect transformation figure. It smoke stacks is transformed into its primary blaster and its truck roof is transformed to his secondary blaster.

With multiple accessories, Convoy can have different weapons configurations.

One of the configuration is attaching the primary blaster it is mid transformed mode and attach them to the secondary gun which is still in the truck roof mode.

Another configuration is Convoy with truck roof as a back pack with a primary blaster. Every conservative peacekeeping forces would use.

The most popular mode for the most Gung-Ho people, dual blaster configuration. Aggressive and reckless nevertheless.

Convoy in truck mode is something truly to behold. Almost perfect in all expect. Except the robot parts is able to be view from the underside of the truck. and if you can forgive the designers to be lazy to make big side piece of the truck is visible as part of the Convoy Robot arms.

It is a shame that the under part of the truck expose the robot legs.

The roof of the truck can be taken off but it will expose Convoy’s robot head.

Not forgetting the fact, the roof of the truck as well as the smoke stacks can be transformed into Convoy’s blaster.

If you noticed the weapons details, TakaraTomy did not reserved and gives it more details. The smoke stacks can be detached and transformed into a small blaster with double barrel. Its design is very similar to the Warhammer 40K space marines bolters. Or atleast it has the outline of the Warhammer 40K bolters.

With good accessories Henkei Convoy is the best Henkei figure in the Henkei and Transformers classics line.

One thing which seperates Henkei from its cousins Transformers classics is chromed parts. The truck bumper and grill is chrome. Unfortunately it the part end up in Convoy’s behind. It is literally Convoy has a shiny ass in Robot mode. Reminds of Bender‘s famous quote “Bite my shinny metal ass.”

Another small details which I prefer is the fist of Convoy, for it is moulded or painted with 2 different color on a single fist.

Even Convoy’s robot head has a lot of details on it. The blue glow on the robot eyes is attributed to blue translucent plastics were used to allow light to pass through. Giving it a blue glow at the eyes or optics if you prefer

Just manage to make lame pose with Convoy, but in reality it is a good possable figure and the joints is neither tight or loose; just nice.

Too bad there is no articulation at the waist. Else it can make more dynamic poses.

In a nutshell, C01 Henkei Convoy is an incredible toy transformable accessories. Good articulations. Good details just dumb down slightly by the fact it is not perfect transformation.

Highly recommended to Transformers fans old and new alike. Mecha lovers go get it.

My buddies in the TransMY have sweat it off by arranging the concourse in Queensbay Mall for the up coming convention this weekend from the 26th till 28th June 2009.

Masterpiece Prime and THS Prime showcase.

We have members from all around Malaysia contributing to make the event successful. Some of our members has created a Pyramid desert diorama on the face off between good and evil.

The details of the pyramid is improved by using actual sand and some detailing by adding desert vegetation.

Of cos a diorama is not complete without filling it with heroes and villian and everything in between.

TransMY are trying to capture the essense of the climatic battle of Autobots and Decepticons in the Revenge of the Fallen, 2009 Transformers Movie.

Transformers Henkei Galvatron – Robot mode

Reconstructed by Unicron from the broken body of Megatron. Galvatron were entrusted to destroy the Autobot Leadership Matrix.

After a series of complex transformation from tank mode to robot mode. Galvatron is almost the same rendition of its G1 Transformers movie.

Compared to others Henkei or Transformers Classics or Transformers Universe toy. Galvatron Transformation is complex and frustrating. Wrong application of force will causes parts to be pop out. Which is true to the left arm shoulder sockets.

The cannon at the left arm, is dominant, it takes about 30% of the entire Robot mode. The entire turret is folded and transformed into Galvatron´s right arm. Unfortunately, the hand is molded as a static opened arm with sharp claw like fingers.

In robot mode, the right arm is restricted to rotation at the shoulder axis and abit of articulation at the elbow. Nevertheless, the big gun is a cool factor. The gripe is Galvatron´s hips feels very feminine. It´s waist is able to be twisted.

The entire leg is made up from the tank threads. Alot of twist and turns and folding are required. Another half of the tank threads is transformed into Galvatron back or back pack. Unfortunately, there is no pegs to lock them into more stable position.

Past of the tank top is transform into Galvatron lower back slightly above the pelvic region; giving an impression of a skirt armor. Perhaps to prevent its foe shooting lasers at its butt. The skirt armor part is floppy.

Without the pseudo jet pack, Galvatron upper body would seems scrawny and thin. The jet pack beef up Galvatron appearance.

The left arm is thin not proportioned to the right beefy cannon arm. Perhaps Galvatron fitness instructor specialized on building the right arm.

The length of the cannon on the right arm is 90-95 percent of the Galvatron robot height.

In term of detailing and face sculpt, it is a good as it gets compared to all existing official toy line from TakaraTomy or Hasbro.

The eyes is made of translucent amber colored plastics. Light is allows to pass thru from the back to the front to give an amber glow at the eyes.

The head is only able to turn left to right, it is not able to look up or down. Articulation of Galvatron figure is very limited to make things worse the joints are quite loose and floppy. The figure itself in robot mode is floppy and feels flimsy. It is less durable compared to its other Henkei toyline counterparts.

Due to the top part is heavier to the back and floppy hips, it has tendency to fall back.

Overall, the Henkei Galvatron toy in its robot mode has a lot of flaws. Gaps, floppiness, disproportioned, thin, scrawny, amber instead of red eyes.

The only reason that it is a taker is this-is-Galvatron factor. Only made for die hard fans. For casual playing it is not recommended at all.

Transformers Henkei Galvatron – Tank mode

Born/remade/reformat from the broken body of the Decepticons/Destron undisputed leader; Megatron . Galvatron is the new embodiment of the Decepticons/Destron new generation leader.

Galvatron the new face of tyranny.

In the rendition of the Henkei toy line Galvatron alternate mode is a battle tank. In the original series, it was a futuristic looking howitzer. The firepower is so powerful that it can pulverize StarScream with a single shot.

The package of the toy is in cardboard with encased by bubble plastic. The back of the cardboard has the robot feature, statistics, biodata all in Japanese.

There is no accessories for Galvatron, the only additional part is the spring loaded projectile. Don´t worry it won´t shoot your eyes out.

Like others Henkei toy line it has transformation instruction and henkei comic with the Galvatron character collectible card.

Out of the box in alternate mode, Galvatron is tied securely to onto the bubble plastic.

Galvatron alternate mode is a modern battle tank with a rotatable turret which at the side has a small missle pack.

Its turret and the side of the back of the thread is chromed. Which is rather unfortunate as it is critical parts for the transformation.

Galvatron alternate mode is not without it charms, the propotion of the tank is commendable, the turret which can be rotate is an additional point.

The underbelly of the tank shows the belly of Galvatron robot mode. It is a consistency of the Henkei and Transformers universe classic toy line.

Unfortunately the threads is molded plastic and is not movable. The tank movement can only be simulated with the help of 4 tiny wheels.

At its left side, the rocket pack is not visible. On the right side, the details is added with a rocket pack.

The tank mode can have its turret turn 180 degress but unable to turn 360 due to the toy design.

The projectile needs to be handled with care for there is no space. It is just a piece of plastic molded in translucent orange.

The fun factor for the alternate mode is the turret. Simple designed yet it fulfills and made the tank more complete.

The one thing to gripe on the tank mode is it is abit floppy at the joints holding the thread to the tank main body.

Transformers Universe G1 Series StarScream – Robot mode

Starscream is abit of mix view even in its robot mode it equally good and bad.

Proportion wise it is ok, torso is good propotioned, but it has large legs and small hands short hands with 2 oversized cannons.

The pelvic area is only good when look from the front. From the view of the side, you will realized that the pelvic region is just a thin piece of plastic.

From a closer view up at the sides, the transformation from F16 to robot left a big open gap that gives a representation of a hollow torso.

Head detailing is commendable, the scuplt of the robot face is closely resembles the G1 Starscream Transfomers

Back of the robot is less desirable, the nosecone of the F16 can be spotted connected to the back of Starscream head. Fortunately, the wings of the seeker is G1 animation accurate.

Gimmick wise of this figure is very limited, it only has a pair of cannon which is able to shot out projectiles. Unfortunately, there is no spares, if the projectile is missing, the Starscream will look like battle damaged. Too bad, the do not make actual projectile but the barrel of the null cannon itself is the projectile.

Articulation wise, its torso area has no articulation. Articulation is limited to head, arms hips and legs.

Arms articulation is very limited by the null cannons at the arms. Removing the cannons can improve the articulation of the arms.

Starscream is able to made to stand on 1 leg, unfortunately the loose hip joint causes the pose to show very funny result.

Articulation of the head is limited to twisting the head from left to right and right to left. The limitation is due to the toy design in which the nosecone is attached to the head of Starscream.

Overall Starscream is an OK toy. The reason to get it is the Starscream factor. Sculpt is properly details but paint job is bad, lots of smudges. Articulation is hindered by the toy design. Very obvious hinderance to articulation is its null cannon, nosecone as well as very loose joints. Not to be repetative, the only redemption for the toy is because it is Starscream.

Transformers Classic Voyager Class Cyclonus, Gimmicks [Part4]

Cyclonus do not has a lot of accessories. The only gimmick is nightstick aka its gun/blaster.

The lack of accessories is forgivable, NightStick on its own is an interesting piece of gun.

The posebility of NightStick is limited to its arm, elbow and leg minus its knee.

It is too bad that the gun barrel too long, it may becomes the 3rd leg for NightStick. If the barrel is collapsable the robot mode of NightStick would be perfect.

The transformation of NightStick from robot to gun is very straight forward that you need no instruction on the transformation process.

Once it is transformed it becomes a big gun.

NightStick on gun mode can be attached to Cyclonus cybertronian jet just above the cockpit/cabin.

NightStick can only be hold by Cyclonus on its right hand, which is very unfortunate.

You can’t help but imagine that Cyclonus whenever he wants to shoot his gun/blaster, he might say “Say hello to my little friend.” .

The articulation overall is good, but the waist unable to twist and the arms is articulation is limited due to the wings is blocking the full articulation potential.

However, the torso connection to the legs is ball point there is fear of the ball joint loose after long play.

In the nutshell, the articulation of Cyclonus is good but not excellent.

You don't mess with the Cyclonus.

As a summary on this toy, it shines its best in robot mode. Cybertronian jet mode is abit floppy at the lower part of the Cybertronian jet. It sleekness on its robot mode and its pal NightStick offset the small flaw in the Cybertronian jet mode. It is a very good attempt by Hasbro and TakaraTomy to remake the toy with better accuracy to the G1 Transformers character.

Transformers Classic Voyager Class Cyclonus, Robot Mode [Part3]

Cyclonus just looks slick, lean and mean in robot mode. It follows as close as the G1 Transformers.

The proportion of Cyclonus robot mode is very nicely done.

Panel lines and detailing is done on the legs, arms, torso as well as the wing.

The head detailing is superb, the red eyes looks intimidating, fully capture the essence of Galvatron’s vassal. It has a insidious grin sculpt to its head.

The red eyes glowing effect is due to the toys designer uses a piece of translucent red plastics as it’s eyes.

From the back of the robot head, it is revealed that the glowing eyes feature is due to exposed back. Nevertheless, the evil red menacing eyes of Cyclonus is appealing.

Transformers Classic Voyager Class Cyclonus, Cybertronian Jet Mode [Part2]

A futuristic sleek jet which is able to travel in space or in atmospheric flight Cyclonus is in its Cybertronian Jet mode.

The only gimmick that Cyclonus has at his cybertronian jet mode has retractable landing gears. It has the a peg hole to hold NightStick in its gun mode on top of the cockpit/cabin. The scuplt of the toy is very detailed.

Its thrusters is molded with details. The panel lines and contour of the jet engines can be seen.

Its cockpit/cabin is also has detailed mold.

The Cybertronian jet looks edgy with sharp edges and has a radical inverted wings instead of conventional aircraft wings.

The landing gears is stored at the knees of the robot and below the nosecone, which is properly concealed.

Unforunately, the nosecone is very loose and floppy, it will fall down retracted if the jet is place upright with its nosecone facing up.

Another flaw is the 2nd half of the jet fuselage which its its legs is a bit loose and does not has a strong peg to secure the legs.

The underside expose most part of the robot chest, it is must to be desired if the robot part is fully concealed.

Should the underside is not review Cyclonus has a very good alternate mode.

Transformers Classic Voyager Class Cyclonus, Package [Part1]

Cyclonus from the Hasbro Transformers Classic toyline, is a more defined more articulated toy compared to the earlier 80s Cyclonus TargetMaster toy.

Though, the toy is smaller compared to the 80s Cyclonus but it is well proportioned.

This toy is just pack in a card backed bubble package. With attractive design.

The bubble plastic packing steadily hold the toy, Cyclonus is transformed as a Cybertronian Jet mode with his buddy NightStick in robot mode.

The back of the card has bio and statictics of Cyclonus it features a shot of the actual toy in robot mode.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to keep the toy in mint for the bubble package is not designed for resealing the toy back to the packaging.

Once it is opened, the Cyclonus toy and NightStick is securedly tied with cables, it comes with an a transformation manual.

The toy need to be liberated from the securing cable before the toy can be play with.
